Development and Research Experience

Augmented reality and efficient endoscopic video segmentation. Designed and developed an efficient intra-operative endoscopic video segmentation technique for robotic surgery systems (More details here).

Non-rigid 3D objects to 2D video alignment. Designed and developed a method for non-rigid pose estimation of pre-operative 3D models based on their corresponding visual cues in intra-operative 2D scenes. (More details will be available soon)

Novel user-friendly continuous convex formulation for multi-region object segmentation. Designed and developed a novel and user-friendly continuous convex image segmentation framework in which a user can easily apply intuitive constraints (geometric constraints and distance constraints) between different labels to obtain more accurate results. Overlapping multi-region cell segmentation. Designed and developed a segmentation technique that leverages several prior information to model the problem as accurate as possible for segmentation of potentially overlapping cells with complex topology. (More details will be available soon)

Rooftop detection/segmentation in satellite/aerial images. Designed and developed a method for detection and segmentation of polygonal rooftops in satellite/aerial images using dynamic programming techniques. (More details will be available soon)

Human activity recognition. Developed a framework for human activity recognition by extracting spatio-temporal features and train a classifier.

Human identification based on ear structure. Designed and developed a biometric system for personal identification based on ear structure using wavelet decomposition (with the recognition rate of > 90%).

Fingerprint singular point detection. Designed and developed a new rotation invariant approach for detecting singular points in fingerprints for a biometric system.

Line follower robot. Designed and built a line follower robot with the ability of following lines with
